Review of The Edge of Seventeen (2016) by Dean E — 19 Nov 2016
Subverting many of the genre's stereotypes without feeling inorganic, writer/director Kelly Fremon crafts a relatable, personal tale of teenage depression that is as engaging as it is enlightening.
Anchored by the performance of a future star, Hailee Steinfeld, Edge of Seventeen is nuanced, well written and consistently surprising, making it one of the best coming-of-age films of the last decade.
