Review of The Edge of Seventeen (2016) by Mike B — 29 Nov 2016
THE EDGE OF SEVENTEEN was cute and decent... And slight. It flirted with larger issues without engaging them. The screenplay was good, but not great. The best part of the film is Woody Harrelson's interaction with Hailee Steinfeld.
It was at these few moments that the film was at its best, and approached something greater. As such, it is an entertaining diversion, but not a great film. Go see it and enjoy it, but don't believe the hype.
It's nowhere near the best film of the year. Recommended. ***.25/*****.
