Review of The Edge of Seventeen (2016) by Saurabh V — 02 Feb 2017

This movie is brilliant! In every way shape and form! I love this movie to bits! I love how this film has the brass kahuna's to make the lead character a straight up ASS HOLE and I love it! This girl deservedly so by the way learns a harsh lesson when her crush tries to do something to her that is utterly fucked up! I love that in this movie unlike most female led films (Star Wars Force Awakens and Ghostbusters) there are consiquences to her actions. Everything she does has a repercussion and I fell in love with it. I'm going to address the big elephant in the room. I LOVE HAILEE STEINFELD!! Like I've always had a HUGE CRUSH on this girl since I saw her in True Grit and I saw we're both close to the same age and she's drop dead gorgeous, but holy shit she was amazing. As unbiased as I tried to be not crushing on her, I have to admit she made me fall in love with her even more! After following her career as both a fan and a critic I can say without a doubt that Hailee is not only my favorite part, but she's now on my list of people I will see regardless what genre, how bad it'll be, how good it'll be! I love Hailee Steinfeld and my crush has now increased and I look forward to seeing her in another project.

I am going to go on record and request with all that is holy CAST HAILEE as BLACK CAT in the new Spider-Man series. I mean dude my other favorite woman (who I will speak of soon) played Felicity in Amazing Spider-Man 2 and she was the best part without even being Black Cat, but I know Hailee can definently upstage that!!

Okay back to reviewing movie and not blushing like a shy Junior High School boy over Hailee Steinfeld. I'll admit it I do blush over her.

Alrigth with this said I loved the entire supporting cast! My fav is actually WOODEY HARRELSON!! I loved how his character was written and acted by Woodey "fucking" Harrelson! He wasn't the inspirational nice guy teacher who gave Nadine (played by my biggest crush ever...Hailee Steinfeld) all the perfect advise like a John Hughes movies, instead he was a smart ass who would talk shit back to Nadine's smart ass-ey-ness at him! I loved how he was so calm, subtle, and just an extremely chilled out guy who wants to be left alone eating his lunch!

My other favorite part is actually the brother played by BLAKE JENNER!! See I had the pleasure of seeing this guy rock both small and big screen in Supergirl and (My #3 favorite film this year) Everybody wants Some!! Blake Jenner plays the brother who had it easy, and had god given sports abilities, but he had to put up with all the whacky shit Nadine's done all of his life.....but he dates her bestfriend so he kind of sets this thing on himself this time! I couldn't help but smile and laugh at how he was so clueless to why dating his sisters best friend is at all fucked up! I love how even when Nadine tells him to stop seeing her, he goes a step further and asks her on a date, then they start dating!

This movie was written so well that it's rare for a movie now a days to solve all the subplots, the built up jokes, the character arc's and etc. in one seating making it a cinematic experience since everyone is so hung up on being a cinematic universe instead of a film and this movie did it perfectly! The writing is fast, it's witty and on top of it all it makes you truly care for all the characters in the film! The writing was so good that I actually couldn't point out one thing I didn't like. It's certainly reserved a spot in my TOP 10 which will be shown off soon!

Now onto another woman. Who is now on my list of crushes.
