This is a special film. I reserve my five stars for movies that make me feel something for days afterwards, and The Edge of Seventeen is one of those movies. I will probably watch it again someday when my kids are approaching this age, just as a refresher to what that period of life feels like. It absolutely nails it. It's both hilarious and heartbreaking.
Its a fantastic script, but the acting takes it to the next level. Hailee Steinfeld is possibly even better than advertised, Woody Harrelson is at his best, and even Blake Jenner gives an under-the-radar super performance that I don't think I appreciated on the first watch.
