Review of The Edge of Seventeen (2016) by Paul B — 01 Dec 2016
The Edge of Seventeen stars Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) in this coming of age movie about a girl who struggles to see where she fits in society and her life begins to unravel when her best-friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson) starts dating her older brother, played by Blake Jenner (Everybody Wants Some). Her only person that she can confide in her equally abrasive teacher Mr. Bruner (Woody Harrelson).
This may sound like your run of the mill coming-of-age movie but what sets this a part is the sharp script and brilliant performances, especially from Steinfeld as the lynch pin of the movie. Full credit to the writers for creating such rich and full rounded characters and providing them with dialogue which is both funny and emotional.
The Edge of Seventeen is film that I think everyone can relate and I guarantee you'll laugh, smile and probably shed the odd tear. Well worth watching!
