Review of The Edge of Love (2008) by Maxine E — 28 Jun 2008
A stylised, soft-focus wet dream fused with a highly depressing Welsh coast melodrama makes for an interesting little picture that never gels completely. Murphy's Captain Killick elicits far more empathy than the deeply shallow London socialites around him, although all four principals bring a restrained complexity to their characters that the script apparently forgot to.
And if I'm the only human left who enjoys Knightley's pouting, I can live with that.
