Review of The Edge of Love (2008) by Tirion P — 09 Sep 2008
"Behind every man is a great woman" Or in Dylan Thomas' case, two. This is the love story of two great women behind the great man. Matthew Rhys is excellent as Dylan Thomas, playing the role of the self absorbed poet who's full of flirtatiousness.
The actresses fighting for a piece of him are two of cinema's current favourite gorgeous actresses, Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller. Knightley is well suited to the role, which feels a little like a reprise of her role from Atonement.
Apart from the Welsh accent which disappeared from time to time. While Miller gives a solid performance as Caitlin, the worldly, hard-drinking hedonist who can never quite find a path to happiness. The film includes glimmers of visuall brilliance for example the shot of St Paul's against a reddening sky shot through fallen rubble.
