Review of The Edge of Love (2008) by Helene B — 09 Nov 2008
A bit of a dull dud - looks lovely, Keira and Sienna both look stunning (and both do a good job of acting), but the film fails to capture your attention past the first 25 minutes. It's all too cold, too unemotional, and asks for your involvement without earning it, and it doesn't help that the whole thing revolves around a man (Matthew Rhys' Dylan Thomas) who, in this incarnation, has no redeeming qualities whatsoever (not even charm).
The man's about as revolting as a shit sandwich, and spending 2 hours in grey, gloomy Wales watching two gorgeous women back-stab each other over his affections gets very old - very, very quickly.
