Review of The Edge of Love (2008) by Jeremy R — 29 Mar 2009
"Atonement"-lite. Lovingly photographed by Jonathan Freeman and featuring interesting directorial flourishes by John Maybury, "The Edge of Love" suffers from a weak plot. Seriously, are there any interesting films about poets? And with the poet in question being Dylan Thomas (who is portrayed as quite an asshole), the film is often prententious without purpose.
Despite the plot deficiencies, the film is well acted and crafted enough to make it worth watching.
