"...cos today...I'm going to kill the mother-fucker!" Hopkins, Baldwin, beards and bears. With a Mamet screenplay and professional thesp/serial killer/millionaire genius Hopkins at the helm, we are slowly steered towards The Edge.... and past it! That was a great strap line, worthy of Paul 'Fangtastic' Ross. Anyways,.

When millionaire Hopkins has a b-day party, he stupidly invites Alec Baldwin. A slightly crazed fashion photographer. Joining them on the birthday bash in some remote mountains (as you do) is Elle McPherson, Hopkins' trophy wife, and Michael from tv's Lost. Baldwin wants to photograph some local native dude and takes hopkins and michael from Lost on an excursion they'll never forget. A flock of killer seagulls smash through their plane, tanking them into an icey lake. Naturally the pilot dies on impact and everyone else comes out uninjured and dry.

From here on in it's a battle of wits between two grizzly Hollywood heavyweights and a real grizzly bear that's stakling them. No CGI here, it's proper scary shit. Hopkins' character is an uber well-read nerdy know-it-all who can turn a leaf into a compass and make fire from ice. Alec is a tightly wound sarcy little fucker who isn't to be trusted, his character is very similar. Together they must put aside their differences to fight a bear that's got the taste for humans. Some amazing rucks and blinding dialogue. Oh, and did I mention Michael from Lost dies pretty soon in the film? He was slowing down Tony and Alec, he had to go.
