Review of The Edge (1997) by Adam Z — 22 Nov 2008
One of my favorite action movies. To be honest, I think it was a mistake to hire Lee Tamahori as director because he misses a lot of the bite and intended impact in David Mamet's screenplay ("What brings you down, rich man? JEWS AND TAXES!") but otherwise this is all just fun.
You can sense Mamet laughing behind his typwriter when he makes fun of the cliche where the black guy always dies first (sorry Harold Perrineu). Hopkins and Baldwin are both electrifying in their scenes together.
Awesome Jerry Goldsmith score. Oh, and long live Bart the Bear.
