Review of The Eagle Huntress (2016) by Susan J — 03 Jan 2017
The Eagle Huntress is a stunningly shot film detailing the journey of the first female eagle hunter in Mongolia, only let down by its soundtrack. The subject of the film allows for some beautiful, soaring cinematography: you can really feel the height and anticipation of being there.
It avoids becoming manipulative and preachy, while still keeping our main-characters the exception not the norm. As stated earlier, the soundtrack does let it down. They use traditional Mongolian music once or twice, which sounds good, but through the majority of the film they use the same manipulative western music, which takes you out of the experience.
Despite this, I still believe the Eagle Huntress should soar to new heights.
