Review of The Eagle Has Landed (1976) by Tom P — 24 Nov 2007
Ohhh, I do so love vaguely implausible war films. Where Eagles Dare, the Dirty Dozen, Wild Geese. Guilty pleasures a go-go. This one's balls to the wall fun, with Caine playing a German officer who's just a soldier not a Nazi (and managing to keep the German accent for about his first three lines), Sutherland the most ludicrously Oirish Irishman I've seen on telly all week, Robert Duvall co-starring with an eye patch, and Jean Marsh shooting JR Ewing through the head.
It doesn't get any more guiltlessly fun that this, and I can never get over just how young Treat Williams is.
