Review of The Eagle Has Landed (1976) by M C — 10 Mar 2008
One of the best classic war movies, albeit strangely forgotten. The cast is great, the story epic and the realisation riveting and, most importantly, not nearly as serious we might expect it to be. It is also very interesting to see the German soldiers in a very different light than they are shown in the majority of American WWII feel-gooders.
Ironically enough, the biggest flaw of the film is precisely that it doesn't have any clear antagonist, thus often the viewers frustration is left unanswered.
