Review of The Dying Gaul (2005) by Franz P — 06 Nov 2007
It started off pretty good but then it collapsed without making a noise. Peter Sarsgaard and Campbell Scott, surprisingly has some sort of chemistry. Patricia Clarkson did a good job as a wife who stumbles upon the secrets of the man she admires and the man she loves.
This could've been a better movie if the conclusion wasn't so low-key. It lacked a certain bite that it kind of promises in the beginning of the film. I liked the commentaries regarding the film business, marital relationships, fluidity of sexuality, crimes, and passion.
The tone of the movie was okay, at times a little distracting because of the close-ups. Still, this film had good ideas so I'm not against recommending it.
