Review of The Dyatlov Pass Incident (2013) by Luciano G — 07 Sep 2013
Harlin's film is gorgeously presented, builds mightily well and even displaces with a few "did you see that scares". The real life mystery that the film works off is undoubtedly scary in itself and lends this found footage picture strength.
Yes, it all resolves into implausible zaniness but The Dyatlov Pass Incident has a smart closing scene, a lot of great build up before the silliness and is a fun example of a big director doing something fun with a genre rooted in low-fi beginnings.
I enjoyed it.
