Review of The Dyatlov Pass Incident (2013) by Bradley P — 23 Sep 2013
I loved this movie. I loved the premise, loved the development, and loved the final third act, which in my opinion delivered big time. It's like someone made a movie just for me. Even the acting was great, with dialogue that developed the characters so well.
I wish the movie dropped the "found footage" pretense and just gave us the story like a good movie should. After all, the whole point of "shot on video" is to provide an element of "this actually happened", which this movie doesn't bother with once we get an answer to all the mystery in the final act.
Some people didn't like the end, I only wish this movie got the same CGI treatment that big bland blockbusters like World War Z got, because it deserves it. I loved the fact that the mystery was resolved so well.
It loses half a star for the B grade special effects and another half for having to stick to the "found footage" cliche. I would dock it even more for being found footage but it pulls it off rather well and I just like the plot, dialogue and story arc so much.
A gem for sure.
