Review of The Dukes of Hazzard (2005) by Richard P — 19 Feb 2009
Terribly miscast movie with actors that should definitely not be playing the rules of the classic TV characters. A lot of people didn't like the casting of Jessica Simpson as Daisy, however, I felt this was the only good casting in the entire movie.
Everybody else was totally wrong for the parts, particularly Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg and Sean Scott as Bo Duke. Apart from that though, it was good fun and was a reasonably good tribute to the old TV show.
The main difference was that Rosco and Boss Hogg were darker more serious characters than their originals. The character of Cletus does appear, but his name is never mentioned, except in the credits. I think he was probably the cop at the road block who did most of the talking.
