Review of The DUFF (2015) by Alex W — 14 Mar 2015
While "The Duff" takes place now and incorporates all the latest technology and social media, its plot and the whole concept of the movie is dated and unoriginal. I feel like it would have worked better as a comedy.
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how one would classify this film. I guess, a feel-good relatable high-school movie? The acting wasn't great, the script wasn't great, and nothing about it was very memorable, but I believe it accomplished what it set out to do by creating the 'feels' and getting you emotionally invested in the characters and their stories.
Perhaps I'm being to critical because I'm older than the target demographic for the movie, and its not exactly my cup of tea. That being said, It still wasn't as good as even I was hoping it would be; but it was not bad.
