Review of The Drop Box (2015) by Thomas P — 04 Mar 2015
A Drop Box for babies in the age of movie rental drop boxes - outrageous.
A chilling reality exposed here.
And yet hear the stories of these children and their plight, the couple who started this as an answer to babies being left in back alleys and found dead otherwise.
And then comes this compassion that is compelling these Grandparents who have come to the rescue of these lives-in-the-balance and are again first-time parents in the process.
Stunning, vulnerable, shocking, and yet the intense love overwhelms you.
A somewhat unsentimental view keeps the perspective here - you are touched, only if you have the capacity of compassion to take this in.
The magnitude and gravity of the subject is kept from being too much, thankfully, but you will stop to think.
Brave, bold filmmaking - focused on the truth, and yet free to observe these fascinating ppl.
And they answer these Qs:
Where do these babies go?
What are the legal ramifications?
What is the Korean Govt's involvement?
Brilliant film work.
The joy and the sorrow will shock and yet eventually satisfy.
5 out of 5.
