Review of The Drop (2014) by Seventhseal — 03 Jan 2015
Not a terrible flick equally not a fantastic one either.
Being a huge Tom Hardy fan this may have played some part in my liking of this outing as my watch buddy disliked it. She isn't aware of Hardy.
Plot wise it is simple gangster, New York fair with little on the way of weight or depth but then I guess it wasn't aiming for this bench. Hardy is a simple barman with no life outside the bar, gangster racketeers run the bar and life is sweet until a robbery changes this. Queue story....
There seems to be a trend in America of late where once great actors get fat(ter) and unfit and habitual and die. The trend is further exposed in the fact their 'last films' suck. Well suck is too far a negative here but Gandolfini has been much better.
Final verdict watch if bored and nothing else on or if you dig gangster flicks.
