Review of The Drop (2014) by Mjrmd1 — 20 Sep 2014
Along with the recent Third Person, The Drop is a demonstration of the importance of good writing. Perhaps not as great a film as the Lehane/Eastwood Mystic River, it still shows masterful detail of character and place. Tension doesn't build as much as it is maintained throughout. Tom Hardy again shows how skilled and controlled an actor he is. Aspects of Mean Streets and even Paddy Chayefsky(in Bob's inarticulateness) came through.
I walked into The Drop knowing almost nothing about it; I'm glad I took the chance.
