Review of The Drop (2014) by Skantea — 28 May 2015
I've been on a bit of crime flick jag lately and I've noticed that it's the slow burning , quiet films, the ones that take their time unraveling character and plot that are leaving the most impact in their gritty wake.
This one impressed me on quite a few levels, the writing, the acting, the flat grimness, the quiet violence, all served up in a tightly packaged urban tale which held my attention perfectly for it's full running time.
Recommended for those that are not in the mood for noises and fast cuts, but are instead seeking a series of moments steeped in earthy detail.
