Review of The Drop (2014) by Foxgrove — 14 Nov 2014
Despite another truly magnificent performance from the brilliant Tom Hardy this is a slight story drawn out unnecessarily. The pacing lacks urgency and the direction is pedestrian. It's a crying shame really because there is a half decent film here trying to get out and certain moments truly resonate and make you want to like it more.
Aside from Hardy, both schoenaerts and James Gandolfini also register strongly. Unfortunately the film underwhelms, betraying the sublime work of its actors.
