Review of The Drop (2014) by Rosemonde D — 22 Sep 2014
I'm not entirely sure how this movie became so high-rated. With a screenplay by one of my favorites, and a cast of incredible actors, I wanted to enjoy this movie. I couldn't, it was uncomfortably funny in its inane dialogue, hollywood tropes, and two dimmensional characters I could barely digest.
No nuance was brought to this movie, though it tried, desperately, over and over and over again. And the attempts were what made it such a hard pill to swallow. The ending was the only payoff, but then Hollywood reared its ugly head in the last 30 seconds, slapping a vomit soaked bow on an otherwise mediocre gift.
