Review of The Double (2014) by Sam W — 04 Apr 2014
As much as I enjoyed the film, the fact that it's being sold as a "comedy" is quite perplexing. What you do get is a dark psychological drama, as Jesse Eisenberg's character engages in a battle of wits whose natural charm is at odds with his own social skills limitations.
Peppered with cameos - Chris O'Dowd , Paddy Considine, Sally Hawkins, Edward Fox to name but a few, it is an incredibly stylised film that is clearly influenced by the likes of Brazil, Eraserhead, The Tenant.
So if films of social-isolation, and dark dystopian psycho dramas are your thing then this should be up your street !
