Review of The Double (2011) by Roxanne R — 12 Feb 2012
Excellent motion picture worth the rental and I am shocked it did not receive more publicity! Richard Gere is superb once more as ex-CIA operative Paul Shepherdson. A U.S. senator that was under surveillance is murdered and the crime bears the signature style of a Russian spy known as Cassius.
So CIA director Tom Highland (Martin Sheen) calls top operative Paul Shepherdson out of retirement to investigate. Paul's partner on the case is Ben Geary (Topher Grace), a young and brilliant agent who is also an expert on Cassius and is certain the Russian is behind the slaying, even though Paul insists Cassius is long dead.
This film has twists and turns and you have to pay close attention to see how it develops! I will say this, not everything is as it seems..Bravo for Michael Brandt who wrote and directed this little gem and great acting by all.
..Definitely recommended and added to my private collection!
