Review of The Double (2011) by Dave S — 16 May 2012
Ok I really enjoyed this flick for 2 reasons: first it reminds me of a James Petterson novel, yes it plays out like a spy thriller meets a murder mystery. From the first second to the very last minute it becomes intense and never really lets you breathe easily. Secondly This is not a Who-done-it? mystery its more like a why done it? mystery and we get the why half way through the movie and you therefore get an ounce of sympathy and understanding for the killer. As a result one cant help but to cheer the killer on and kill all the good guys. You have an Assasin, who is thought be either killed or retired for many years only to have his work surfaced many years later in the present. A Harvard Grad student attempts to debunk his motives and maybe his existence through his school thesis. And the race begins. Yes I must warn you I DID NOT SEE the ending coming, so you will have a jaw-dropping experience in the last 3 minutes of the movie. And perhaps it is these final moments that make this movie one great awesome Psychological thriller. Rent it. See it. You will love it. This I promise, my dear friends.
Yours truly.
Henry.
