Review of The Double (2011) by Juanka P — 02 Jun 2012
(Reviewed by Juanka) The CIA is looking for an international criminal, a russian spy known as Cassius. The Agency is looking for this murderer, due to the murder of a U.S. Senator. All the pieces of evidence they have point to the dissapeared and supposedly dead Cassius.
A former agent, who supposedly killed Cassius, Paul Shepherdson (Richard Gere) is contacted by the Agency. The CIA director Tom Highland (Martin Sheen, yes, that's Charly Harper's dad) to look into the murder. Paul will have to work with a young FBI agent, Ben Geary (Topher Grace), who is an expert on the soviet agent.
They both will have to work together to find Cassius. Paul affirming that Cassius is dead and Ben, saying that every single murder in the file is related to Cassius, as it is the same method, and consequently Cassius must be alive.
As they go deep into the case, they will find more information about the russian agent and his possible contacts.
While, Paul tries to prevent Ben, that finding Cassius only would bring tragedy and death to his life, Ben seems decided to find the dangerous agent. Ben's investigation will lead him to the surprising conclusion about Paul which can twist the plot extraordinarily. I give it four stars!
