Review of The Doors (1991) by Louise M — 01 Aug 2008
As a big Doors fan I was a bit disappointed by all the ridiculous innacuracies (Ray and Dorothy never had little girls they only had one and it was a boy, why they would fabricate fictional children is beyond me).
The actors who played Robby and John didn't really look like them at all. It disturbs me how much Val Kilmer looked like Jim, practically a clone. I thought that it made it look like they got a record deal out of nowhere, quick and easy when actually, they really struggled for awhile.
I think "The Jim Morrison Story" would've been a more fitting title. However, for every bad there was a good that made up for it. My favorite scene is when they're doing the Ed Sullivan show and the guy is telling them to replace the lyric "Girl we couldn't get much higher" and he's all "Girl, we couldn't get much better.
Can you dig it?" haha the looks on their faces. xD Great use of fabulous Doors music. It's a really good film if you're just getting into them.
