Review of The Door in the Floor (2004) by Judith R — 06 Oct 2007
I'm going to have to buy this to watch it again and again. I am, of course, totally in love with Jeff Bridges, even when (especially when...) he's unsympathetic, and he's brilliant in this.
I loved "A Widow for One Year" and this film has cleverly and sensibly focused on just one section of a long and technically/chronologically complex novel. The emotional heart of the story is underplayed by the actors, script and direction.
And I love Bridge's character's wave of the hand as he dismisses his work--"I am an entertainer of children, and I like to draw". I think I need to sort out my thoughts on this in a blog entry!
