Review of The Door in the Floor (2004) by Kevin T — 20 Sep 2009
A different kind of film that avoids conventional structure, and inhabits a bumpy and often awkward pace. Although I don't think it's completely out of context, because the shift in tone is simply a depiction of the everyday life of very different people in unusual situations.
The rich characters are what really elevate the film, each one is interesting in his/her own way and it's impossible to turn away. Jeff Bridge's dominates the film, his acting is magnetic, understated, layered and involving.
The rest of the performances are good as well, with exception to Kim Basinger, who is unconvincing as always. A rich, unique film that pulls you in and lingers in your mind afterwards.
