Review of The Doom Generation (1995) by Chelsea D — 24 Jan 2008
Not as amazing as Mysterious Skin, but then again I don't think any movie can recreate the surge of emotion you get the first time you watch that film. This however has the opposite affect. It creates a feeling of disconnect from reality that is so extreme it's funny.
Araki's style is so compelling that you feel trapped in his Hitchcockian close-ups and strangely attracted to the chemistry between the leads. This movie is a fabulous criticism of our culture and who it's leaving behind.
