Review of The Do-Over (2016) by Heather W — 05 Sep 2016
Was hoping for it to be a Sandler comeback, the one that he deserves. I was hoping that Netflix could do this some justice! What I got was a hilarious first ten minutes of the movie complete with Sean Astin and 90's nostalgia.
The plot became jumpy about thirty minutes in and afterward, you don't really know where they were going, and of course ended with another serious life lesson hidden in the midst of a forced action plot that contained just as forced F bombs every 5 minutes and random country songs that don't belong in a Sandler film.
(Can we please have Styx back?) I know they're great actors, brilliant and hilarious. I know they can do better so I had high expectations. Sandler and Spade deserve their comebacks, just won't be with this movie, unfortunately.
This was far better than anything lately, however. So there's hope out there, still.
