Review of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) by Jasmyn K — 14 May 2010
I have been hesitant to see this film after reading Jean-Dominique Bauby's book The Diving Bell & the Butterfly. I was very inspired by the book which was written by Bauby after suffering a stroke and was dictated entirely by Bauby by blinking one eye to an interpreter who had to recite the entire alphabet one letter at a time.
I finally broke down this weekend being stuck sick in bed. It really was quite a beautiful cinematic interpretation of Jean-Do's story and Mathieu Amalric's acting was spot on (no big surprise, he is a gifted actor).
Incredible and moving. Ya gotta see it man! Oh yes.
