Review of The Disturbance (1990) by Jason D — 13 Feb 2010
The Disturbance is an under-the-radar psychological slasher film that follows unstable guy Timothy Greeson, who seems fine at first. He builds intricate sandcastles on the beach, he meets sexy lady Lisa Geoffrion and builds a wonderful relationship with her.
The problem with Greeson though is he's unable to shake the disturbing images in his head. Images that include demonic creatures, body mutilations, and rape/murders of several other beautiful women, including Goeffrion.
The hallucinations begin to tear apart Greeson's life, including his relationship, his job, his family, etc. Things become even more problematic when the viewer realizes that these mind images may actually be happening.
The Disturbance comes off as a definite small gem of a low-budget horror film. The movie is infused with mass amounts of nice nudity and surprisingly good effects. I will say the movie has become a bit dated.
Though only made in 1990, this has a definite early 80's vibe to it almost. As for our main character, you really feel bad for Gleeson, who has no control over the horrible, nightmarish images that go through his head.
He wants a life of normalcy, but his deteriorating mind will not let him have that. Overall, not a bad watch at all.
