Review of The Disaster Artist (2017) by Joel P — 20 Nov 2017
While the film simplifies the story of the book, it is a blast from start to finish. James Franco's Tommy Wiseau may not be the real thing but his performance is fantastic in portraying the madness and complexity of this mysterious filmmaker.
Dave Franco works perfectly off his brother and the supporting cast balance the humour of the film with the frustration their real life counterparts would have felt. While it definitely skips a lot of insane details and simplifies the book, it is a fantastic representation of a flawed artist whose biggest failure became his greatest success.
