The Room is a fascinating piece of cinema, and not because it's good. To make a movie about the making of that movie seems odd, but the filmmakers behind the Disaster Artist knew better than I that there was an actual heartfelt story behind the making of The Room, and this movie explores that.

The comedy in this movie worked great. There were tons of laughs throughout, and most of them come from Tommy, who is a great character. James Franco's offbeat portrayal of Tommy Wiseau is very engaging to watch. If you had told me before this movie was announced that Franco would ever play Tommy Wiseau, I would question that, but James is creepily good in this role. He really sells the character unlike what you would expect, and he's such a quirky guy that it results in some great comedy.

While it seems like a surface level comedy, this movie is actually really heartfelt. It has some very serious aspects about goals and putting yourself out there only to be shut down that are surprisingly touching and poignant. It may just be that I can relate to some of the events in this movie, but this film really reached out and touched my heart. This movie has serious messages about accomplishing your goals that work really well and push this film above your average comedy. That's what makes it so good.

Overall, The Disaster Artist is a hilarious and offbeat movie that is sure to give an entertaining ride to all audiences. It's hilarious, but also knows when to be heartfelt, and has a touching story. James Franco's performance also gives this movie the comedy and the story that make it so great. This movie is worth checking out to anyone who has ever had a passion, and will give you some decent laughs along the way.
