Review of The Disappointments Room (2016) by Joe M — 14 Jan 2018
A real disappointment. The movie is a bad mashing up of real horrors - the death of an infant, the mistreatment of the disabled - with the usual big old haunted house that a family from the City moves.
The hauntings are so cliched. The plot holes are huge - such as that Beckinsale, playing an architect, wouldn't have notice much earlier on that there was an extra room in the house with a huge round window that is smack dab on front of the house! Her performance swings between wooden and overwrought.
Mel Raido's Dave is cringe inducing as a nebbishy, annoying lay-about. And the kid needs a haircut - desperately. I fast forwarded through 2/3 of the film. Skip it.
