Review of The Disappointments Room (2016) by Sean M — 11 Sep 2016
I truly enjoyed this film. Wish the producers promoted it as a psychological thriller rather than a horror film. It's more about a woman's descent of her sanity after a horrible loss. True, the mind can truly muster up it's own horrors and I believe this film captured that.
SO, it takes place in an old haunted house (critics always take the easy cliche's) I'm sure it was used purely as a metaphor for her mind. As your troubles will follow you where ever you go (whether you are at a stately mansion or an ocean view.
) Kate was fantastic as well as the rest of the cast. Loved the little boy. I do think there are some important scenes that were edited out for whatever reason. I'd love to see the director's original cut.
All in all, give this film a chance. You might find yourself thinking about it long after you watched it, as I did.
