Review of The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009) by Timothy A — 02 Oct 2010
Taut and effective, albeit a curiously cerebral rather than emotional experience for a film that depicts the degrading minutiae of a disgusting crime in a way Hollywood wouldn't dare. Gets a lot of credit both for treating the audeince as though they are reasonably intelligent and for (***SPOILERS***) a manipulative depiction of male sexuality that hasn't been tried in mainstream film since, well, ever.
