Review of The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009) by Matt A — 02 Jan 2011
Well I think the sypnopsis for this film is very misleading. I was expecting the main character to put up more of a fight and try to do a lot more escaping and outwitting of the 2 kidnappers. However letting that gripe go, this is definetly one of the best Thrillers ive seen in a long while.
The acting is spot on and especially from Gemma Arterton as she doesnt play the same person like she has done in her previous films. However Eddie Marsan is equally likeable and hated in equal measure, the dynamics of his partnership with 'Danny' is very complex and brilliantly written.
The twists werent over the top and unbelieveable, they were excellently played out. This film was definetly a surprise and some scenes werent particularly easy to watch but as a thriller it was one of the best t come out of the UK for some time.
