Review of The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009) by J.j. W — 03 Jul 2011
An extremely well done kidnapping movie that focuses on what most kidnapping films unfortunately neglect in favor of gore: the psychology. J Blakeson shows Eli Roth and James Wan that you don't have to make a kidnapping film horrifically sadistic to be engrossing and engaging.
In fact, The Disappearance of Alice Creed is more dramatically effective than Hostel or Saw. While at times Blakeson's camera wanders needlessly, the film is very tightly written and very competently shot.
