Review of The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009) by Laimis Z — 08 Dec 2011
I really liked this movie but one bit really bothered me, a plot twist about 45 minutes in, though it's hard to pinpoint why. It completely changes the movie, which is fair game, but I don't think it would have worked any better if the conditions were different.
If one of the kidnappers was a woman, or they were family, or there was a big age difference... just the fact that someone was writing this and said "Ok THAT is my huge plot twist" just seems like a bad, disrespectful approach.
This movie looks amazing though, loved the framing, how minimalist things are, and really loved that first five minutes of prep with no dialogue at all.
