Review of The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009) by Rhys G — 10 Feb 2012
The movie is good. With more twists and turns than a mountain highway, the story always evolves and even manages to surprise and grip audiences; which is always a good thing, especially for a thriller, to do.
There is nothing snazzy about J Blakeson's direction, but the simple shots and the acting all suit the story and the cards that are playing out on the screen. I do feel the essence of the story is lost in the end, and a few of the surprises a tad ridiculous - the tone teetering between comedy and drama - but overall it's one of the better pure suspense flicks I've seen for a while.
Three out of five!
