Review of The Dirty Dozen (1967) by Noah R — 16 Aug 2009
Director Robert Aldrich and an all-star ensemble cast mix to produce one of the most-popular action-adventure war films of all time. The characters are stereotypes and the proceedings are clichéd, but the actors and script elevate the picture to classic status.
The filmmakers initially offered John Wayne the lead but he turned it dow. The part went fortuitously to Marvin, and it's hard to think of anyone else in the role.
