Review of The Dirties (2013) by Paul B — 04 Oct 2013
This movie is disturbing and affecting. Shot in 'found-footage' format, the characters are real and likable. It really makes you feel like you are in their high school, watching them get bullied and watching their lives deteriorate.
The story is compelling, and the acting is pretty good for amateur actors. If I had any criticism, it has to do with the found-footage genre - why would someone follow these characters with a camera without saying anything? While the movie starts with the protagonists filming their own scenes (which makes sense), we then get an un-named third party cameraman, which took me out of the movie a little.
Still, this is such an interesting indie flick that you can forgive its weaknesses!
