Review of The Dilemma (2011) by Lynn P — 04 Oct 2013
The concept is great, should he tell his best mate his wife is cheating on him or keep it a secret? The result...Hilarity through the awkward tension between Vince Vaughn and Winona Ryder, there are so many sarcastic comments and hinting between the two of them, it's teeth grinding when Vaughn's character is so close to telling the truth.
The situations that the characters get into, sadly, are not that funny and there's never any big payoffs, although the affair is wild and when Channing Tatum turns up he somewhat saves the film midway between.
The Dilemma isn't just the affair though, it's how the stress between the two best mates affect their work before their important meeting, which is a nice touch to the narrative. I'll give credit to the clever story, the dramatic elements of the script and the totally awesome cast, but the big downfall is the lack of big laughs and wit.
