Review of The Dilemma (1919) by Ryan V — 26 Nov 2012
Starring Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Winona Ryder, and a painful lack of humor. It's not just dull, its attempts at humor are by and large so lame and condescending that it makes you cringe as it you're watching the russian roulette scenes in The Deer Hunter.
And it seemed almost pointless to shoot the movie in Chicago. From the shooting strategy, tone, and the location choices it seemed like they were trying to cover the city up rather than use it as a real setting. If there wasn't that one brief scene at Wrigley Field then you would have a hard time figuring out where it took place at all.
What this all adds up to is the one unforgivable thing for a movie to be (especially one that cost $70 Million) ... it's just plain boring.
