Review of The Dictator (2012) by Jorge D — 06 Feb 2013
Who chooses to watch "The Dictator" knows exactly what to expect humor of Sacha Baron Cohen. A humor that some passages in the coarse edge and irresponsible, and that is no different in this production that spoofs mainly Arab dictators, and all that they represent.
Of course we also have room for criticism of the U.S. itself, as at the time Cohen demonstrates that there is little difference between the fanatics of the east, and those of his own country.
What else is different "The Dictator" of "Borat" and "Bruno" is its structure, which leaves aside the fake-documentary format to invest in a more conventional fiction. Other than that, the shameless way to expose the ridiculous contemporary society remains the same - and it works very well most of the time.
Cohen - as is usual - sometimes weighs his hand and gets to embarrass, but this did not detract from the merit jokes striking, as it exposes the contradictions of the notorious NGO, which take the politically correct borders on insanity (participation of an interesting comedian Anna Faris).
